The story of the Trio HORMIGUEO is „very Berlin“. At their first encounter, three musicians - Miriam Leo (piano), Tom Kessler (double bass) und Paul Schwingenschloegl (trumpet, flugelhorn) - discover their shared passion for pure improvisational music, and spontaneously engage in a musical adventure. No prior agreements, no exchange about different backgrounds, stylistic preferences, horizons, ideas. From the very first moment, the instruments have the floor. This leads to completely unexpected sound experiences, subtle, ephemeral, imbued with a peculiar glow, comparable to pastel colors in painting. The conscious listener is enticed into a sonorous world of its own.

Recorded and mixed by Leonardo Nerini in „Retro Johnny Recording Studio“ in Berlin-Neukölln in July 2022.

In the course of his career trumpeter and composer Paul Schwingenschlögl showed his skills in many areas: he composed for theatre and film and worked as trumpeter in contemporary music, modern jazz and improvised music, among others with Gil Evans, Lew Soloff and John Surman.
